What are the responsibilities and job description for the CASA (Case Appointed Special Advocate) Coordinator position at Gwinnett County?
The CASA Coordinator plays a crucial role in the field of child advocacy and juvenile services by supporting the mission to provide trained volunteers who advocate for the best interests of children in court. The incumbent will assist the CASA Director in the recruitment and screening of CASA volunteers to ensure an effective volunteer base, provide ongoing supervision and support to CASA volunteers to enhance their advocacy efforts, coordinate comprehensive training programs for volunteers, liaise with the CASA Director as required to ensure alignment and coordination of program objectives, and perform other tasks as deemed necessary in support of the CASA program and its objectives.
Essential Duties- Reviews and coordinates case assignments with court and volunteers
- Maintains and updates case and volunteer files
- Attends court hearings, internal and external staff meetings as well as any other necessary meetings
- Helps volunteers in developing on-going strategies for advocacy for cases
- Accompanies volunteers on home visits as needed
- Submits CASA volunteer reports to court and related parties
- Maintains statistics on cases served
- Works in cooperation with CASA Director in the areas of resource development, public awareness, community education and planning

- This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
- Valid Driver's License from state of residency
The grade for this position is B25(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
This position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Social Service, Psychology, Sociology, or a service-related field, AND
- Three (3) years' experience in child welfare system, social services, or volunteer coordination/supervision, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Service, Psychology, Sociology, or a service-related field
