What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer III, IV (Development-Support) position at Gwinnett County?
Job Description
This position will work within our Infrastructure Support Division providing support for new potential development projects seeking connection to the County’s water, sanitary sewer, and/or stormwater system. The role will have a focus on adding stormwater infrastructure and providing data quality control for the Development Support group.
Potential job duties for this role may include:
• Evaluation of as-built stormwater plans including BMPs and hydrology studies.
• Reviewing engineering analysis provided with stormwater utility credit applications.
• Evaluation of water, sewer, and stormwater design and construction variance requests; and
• Providing engineering support for developments seeking pre-design utility consultation with the Department
This position is public-facing, and the candidate must be able to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and verbally with a variety of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have development experience, including using electronic permitting and plan review systems. They must be able to quickly gain familiarity with the Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources, Water Main and Sanitary Sewer Design and Constructions Standards and Specifications, Gwinnett County’s Pump Station Standards, the Gwinnett County Storm Sewer Pipe Standards, and the Gwinnett County Stormwater Management Manual.
Minimum Qualifications:
Engineer III
C45(1) - $82,030 - $135,349
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience
- Valid Driver’s License from state of residence
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) License or ability to obtain it within 18 months
D61(1) - $89,209 - $147,195
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Four years of progressively responsible engineering experience
- PE License or ability to obtain it within 18 months of accepting the position
- Valid Driver’s License from state of residence
