Job Description
The Trades Technician IV is a supervisory level position and is responsible for performing trades duties. This position will be required to perform complex installations and repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspecting equipment. As a lead to staff, this position will assign, monitor, and train new and current employees. The position interacts with outside contractors.

Essential Duties
  • Supervising staff to include prioritizing and assigning work
  • Maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
  • Conducting performance evaluations and recommending employment actions for the section
  • Overseeing the daily operations of the section
  • Assisting with the budget process for the section
  • Processing equipment requests and coordinating repairs
  • Performing highly complex repairs and installations
  • Assisting with the coordination and oversight of the work of outside contractors
  • Maintaining and preparing reports
  • Preparing equipment and supply specifications
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting.
  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Grade
The grade for this position is B31(3). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
 
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED AND
  • Five years of progressively responsible trades experience some of which is in a supervisory capacity OR 
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License 
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • Level II certification in specialty area
