What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trades Tech IV position at Gwinnett County?
The Trades Technician IV is a supervisory level position and is responsible for performing trades duties. This position will be required to perform complex installations and repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspecting equipment. As a lead to staff, this position will assign, monitor, and train new and current employees. The position interacts with outside contractors.
Essential Duties
- Supervising staff to include prioritizing and assigning work
- Maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
- Conducting performance evaluations and recommending employment actions for the section
- Overseeing the daily operations of the section
- Assisting with the budget process for the section
- Processing equipment requests and coordinating repairs
- Performing highly complex repairs and installations
- Assisting with the coordination and oversight of the work of outside contractors
- Maintaining and preparing reports
- Preparing equipment and supply specifications
- This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
- This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting.
- This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
The grade for this position is B31(3). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED AND
- Five years of progressively responsible trades experience some of which is in a supervisory capacity OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid Driver's License
- Level II certification in specialty area
