Job Description
This position is responsible for performing maintenance, grounds keeping and site-wide housekeeping duties in the wastewater treatment plant.

Essential Duties
  • Assisting with installations, repairs, and general maintenance in functional area.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment in functional area.
  • Assisting with various construction duties in functional area for County facilities
  • Preparing job site for repair or installation 
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature or level
  • Performing grounds maintenance
  • Picking up and delivering supplies and materials
  • Assisting employees with moving or modifying furniture
  • Receiving deliveries
  • Performing basic troubleshooting on electrical equipment
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, dusts, gases, workspace restrictions, and travel. This position may be required: 24 hours on call assignment, overtime, or working weekends, holidays, 10-hour, 12-hour, and rotating shifts.
Grade/Annual Starting Salary

Level I (Grade A123) -  $34,789.00
Level II (Grade B213) -  $41,062.00 
Level III (Grade B233) - $48,658.00
Level IV (Grade B313) - $52,916.00 

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. 

Minimum Qualifications
Trades Tech I: 
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Class A commercial driver's license must be obtained with 12 months of employment.  
Trades Tech II: 
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Two years of trades experience
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Class A commercial driver's license must be obtained with 12 months of employment.
  • Valid driver's license.
Trades Tech III: 
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Four years of trades experience
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Class A commercial driver's license must be obtained with 12 months of employment.
  • Valid driver's license.

Trades Tech IV: 
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license;
  • Five years of progressively responsible mechanical or electrical trades experience, some of which is in a supervisory capacity
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.
 
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
