Job Summary
The Countermeasure Technician is responsible for providing service and customer support through installation, maintenance, and repair of screening equipment (metal & weapons detection / X-Ray machines). This position requires travel throughout designated regions of the United States and other areas as assigned nationally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for preventative maintenance and technical troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical/electronic/IT based equipment.
- Product installation
- Advises customer on operation procedures and requirement of systems.
- Communicates effectively for pre- and post- sales technical assistance to GXC's customers. Complete pre-sale upgrades and conversions as needed to meet customer orders.
- Construction, placement, installation and calibration of metal detectors in support of technical operations for events nationwide.
- Assistance with set-up of exhibitions (i.e. trade show) and customer demonstrations.
- Tests and verifies the functionality of the equipment and components internally.
- Document processes and complete required documentation.
- Collaborate with technical team to resolve technical issues.
- Understand technical problems effectively through proper analysis, evaluation and diagnoses.
- Responsible for setting up basic network connections
- Define IP address by assigning subnet and IP address and trouble shoot LAN and wireless issues.
Requirements
- Must live within 49 miles of an International Airport. GXC will maintain operational discretion in placement of a technician in any given city.
- Pre-employment Physical Examination required
- 2-Year Technical degree, apprenticeship program, or equivalent in a technical or military field.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional experience in electrical/electronic and mechanical fields or related professional position.
- Basic computer skills/MS Office
- Experience speaking with clients assisting them over the phone by troubleshooting equipment.
- Through knowledge of electrical/electronic and equipment, including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
- Must possess current and valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Ability to handle emergency situations efficiently and effectively at client site.
- Committed and reliable
- Further education in security administration or similar field will be an asset
- Flexibility to workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays Indoor and outdoor environment, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat
Physical and Mental Functions
- Stand or walk constantly (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet)
- Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift
- Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties
- Occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- Run as needed
- Constant use of both hands and arms using fine motor skills while using phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks
- Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination
- Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat
- Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments
- Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting
