Gym Magic is looking for dependable, energetic, and kid-friendly leaders who work great in a team setting. The ability to self-manage, communicate and participate in camp structure is a must. A camp instructor must be able to follow camp procedures, take advice, provide feedback, and operate in a fun and safe manner. Camp instructors will need to work as a team with open communication to provide fun, efficient, and safe crafts, games, and activities. Instructors are required to stay engaged and keep safety at the top of mind. It is essential to be able to guide playful activities while remaining the teacher. This is a part time seasonal job with full time potential.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage children with safety at the top of mind
  • Establish/maintain an environment based in fun but managed with structure and discipline
  • Be available for training and camp work hours
  • Assist the Director in various tasks
  • Clean the floor, tables and chairs after use of area
  • Monitor the noise levels when inside the lobby
  • Safely manage campers during games & activities
  • Assist campers in creating crafts
  • Prepare snacks and lunch for campers
  • Act responsibly during field trips
  • Safely interact with children during swim days and act as an additional “lifeguard”
  • Execute camp procedures to ensure safe and fun experiences
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills
  • Provide an effort that is above and beyond the average person
  • Ability to work throughout the summer

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with and caring for children

  • Hours vary depending on position. Can range from 10-20 hours a week.
  • Camps are held when LCPS is not in session.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
How will the hiring process unfold?

Hiring & Training Road Map

  • Open until April 30: Application Acceptance Window & Interviews
  • May 20: Orientation & Onboarding
  • May 23 - May 25: Camp Training Program
  • May 26 - 27: Live Camp Training
  • May 31: First Day of Summer Camps (10 Weeks to Go)

Application Acceptance Window & Hiring Process: During this period of time we’ll be contacting applicants via email to set up a time and day for an over-the-phone interview. *Applicants will be notified by May 5th as to whether or not they’ll be hired as a part of the summer camp program.

*5 applicants will be selected to move forward while another 5 applicants will be placed on our short call list in case any of the original 5 hired applicants can’t participate.

Onboarding & Orientation: This will act as an icebreaker “meet and greet” for the summer camp crew. The company orientation presentation will be shown and the Welcome Packets/Goodies will be given out with new camp uniforms. Food will be provided as the Director of camps goes over what to expect from training with a breakdown of the activities and timeline. The orientation and onboarding ends with a tour and team building games on the main gym floor.

Training Program: Training will consist of facility tours, onsite training, Q&A sessions, role playing, and in depth reviews of each camp schedule.

Live Training: Our live training will take place in an actual camp. This will give our new summer crew a practice run before summer camps start the following week.

*CPR & First Aide Certified Preferred (Training & Certification provided during orientation)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
