HD Fowler Company is looking for a full-time advanced meter sales specialist to join our team! The AMI/AMR Sales Specialist will promote sales efforts for our water metering product offering, primarily in the Seattle Metro area. Branch based location is flexible with a preference for the following Western Washington locations: Vancouver, Olympia, Pacific, Bellevue, or Marysville.
You will work closely with existing Outside Sales and Vendor Partner preparing our strategies for pre and post bid proposals. Coordinating our RFQs and RFPs and making formal presentations of our product line to Municipalities, Water Districts, and other related industry targets. Presenting the features and benefits of our system offerings and the mutual advantages of partnering with the HD Fowler team.
Position Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain meter system sales primarily in the Seattle Metro area.
- Work with the internal HD Fowler meter team to facilitate deployment, training, and support services to end user.
- Work closely with Sales Director, Outside Sales and Inside Sales to ensure a smooth bidding, sales, and implementation processes.
- Develop professional relationships with Municipalities, Water Districts, consulting engineers and other key players in the AMI market.
- Strong understanding of municipal and project specifications, as well as competitive metering products and companies.
- Work with and support the meter manufacturer within the assigned geographical area.
- Account profiling, technical demonstration, training and overall product and market knowledge.
- Must become product and process expert with our given meter line.
- Maintain continuing education to stay informed on industry technology.
- Participate and provide internal training on meter line products.
- Provide timely communication on product line, lead times, software changes, new products, and processes to both internal team members and external customers.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications & Education:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Wide range of product knowledge in waterworks and metering; including history, installation, project management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as superior public speaking and presentation skills.
- Demonstrate a sales aptitude and understanding of techniques in up-selling, exceeding expectations, margin enhancement and closing. Exhibit high level of energy, imagination, and assertiveness.
- Ability to mentor, train, and teach end users as it relates to the meter system.
- Dedicated and willing to invest time and energy to complete task, meet deadlines while performing duties efficiently.
- Able to self-guide work prioritization and completion; work with little to no direct supervision.
- Construction project management and experience with the construction process (bid, award, contracts, subcontracts, pre-construction, construction, punch list and progress billing experience) Preferred, but not required.
- Able to use discretion regarding pricing and all general decision making.
- Can operate within and prioritize under tight deadlines.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft. Office 365, Word, Excel, Power Point and Teams.
- At least 2 years experience in posted or related field.
- Bachelors degree preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Must hold a valid drivers license and meet insurability requirement to operate a company vehicle.
- Reside within geographical territory mutually agreed upon with senior leadership.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Travel to deployment sites will requiring the use of PPE
- When in the office, typical office environment
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds
- Some overnight travel will be required for trainings and industry conferences.
