Job Description

SUMMARY of the position:This program is designed for exceptional candidates who have the ambition and potential to become a future Department Manager for Central Market. Department Managers are responsible for leading their departments through great people to achieve maximum return on investment. Candidates selected will experience department specific On-the-Job Training (OJT), Leadership Development, Financial Skills and Management Skills training. Requirements of the position:- Majority of the time spent using independent judgment in making employment-related and business decisions, or effectively recommend such decisions including but not limited to product and department related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding or otherwise engage in resolving Partner-related matters- A passion for the total food experience-A thorough understanding of current food trends-Great verbal and written communication skills-Strong leadership and decision-making skills-The ability to coach and develop others, foster teamwork and champion changeEducation and Experience preferred:-A current performance rating of 30 or better (internal candidates only)-A minimum of a bachelors degree or at least one year of equivalent management experience-A high level of achievement and performance in school (3.0 GPA preferred) and/or work-Computer skills (Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Physical and other requirements:-The ability to travel and work a flexible schedule-The willingness to relocate, if applicable-Some knowledge of government regulations- Lift moderately to heavy loads -Bend -Reach -Kneeling -Squatting - Able to push/pull heavy loads- Able to stand for long periods of time- Work a flexible schedule (includes nights, weekends and holidays)- Standing for long periods of time- Fast paced, demanding environment which requires care and attention to detail- Exposure to extreme temperatures, hot / cold (i.e., heat from ovens and fryers, and cold from freezers and coolers)- Successful completion of a background check02-2011
