What You'll Do
- Monitor and troubleshoot Data platform services such as distributed storage, compute, and streaming.
- Assist with the development and implementation of comprehensive monitoring, SLO tracking, and capacity-planning strategies that are well-aligned with business goals.
- Assist with the implementation of infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate the deployment and management of cloud resources.
- An SRE Engineer, collaborates with data engineers, data scientists and data analysts to optimize data workflows and ensure seamless integration.
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Drive significant process improvements influencing wider team practices.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, proactively suggesting improvements and innovations.
Who You Are
- BS /MS degree in Computer Science, or a related field
- 2 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on platform engineering and cloud infrastructure
- Experience with Databricks and managing large scale data processing environments.
- Expertise in AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda and Cloud Formation.
- Proficient in core GCP services like Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Spanner, App Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
- Proficiency in Python for data engineering and scripting tasks. SQL is always plus.
- Hands on experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Familiarity with data engineering concepts and tools (e.g.: Apache Spark, ETL processes)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other cloud platforms (Azure) is a plus.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (Git Lib, Terraform Cloud)
- Certification in AWS, GCP, Terraform or relevant technologies.
