We look forward to meeting you.The RoleResearches, models, designs, and tests, and integrates electrical and mechanical components and systems with an eye toward ultimate system integration.Components may include : rotating electromagnetic machines (e.g. generators, motors, actuators), electromagnetic and / or conventional clutches gears and bearings, machinery controls (e.g. governors), mechatronics, closed-loop feedback controls, embedded process controllers, networked process controllers, as well as thermal management (e.g. forced-air, fluid, and multi-phase cooling systems), and instrumentation (e.g. torque, vibration, position, speed) of same.Hands on hardware in the loop testing including measurement, assessment, analyses and design of experiments.Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.Must HaveBachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.Nice to HaveA balance of experience with equal focus on both electrical and mechanical components involving development, analysis, design, and modeling.
