SUMMARY
We are looking for a proficient Cost Engineer to join our Atlanta office and support the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Centralized Project Management Office (CMPO). This role is crucial for providing detailed cost analysis and financial forecasting for our projects. The Cost Engineer will work closely with project managers and engineering teams to ensure accurate budgeting and cost control throughout each project's lifecycle in support of MARTA’s pursuit of rehabilitating, enhancing, and expanding its $6B Capital Improvement Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cost Engineer will be responsible for the following key duties:
- Cost Estimation and Analysis: Prepare cost estimates for project bids, change orders, and project variations. Analyze project costs and identify trends that could impact project budgets.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with project managers to set up cost control systems, monitor budgets, and track expenses against approved budgets.
- Financial Forecasting: Provide regular financial forecasts to project teams and management to aid in strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluate potential financial risks in projects and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Reporting: Develop and deliver detailed reports on project financial status to senior management, highlighting areas of concern and suggesting corrective actions as needed.
- Procurement Support: Assist in the procurement process by providing financial insights and cost analysis for purchasing decisions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cost Engineer, Cost Analyst, or similar role in a construction or engineering environment.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with cost management software and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of construction processes and project management.
- Experience with financial modeling and advanced Excel skills.
