SUMMARY 

The Project Manager role will involve overseeing and directing all phases of project development for one or more projects. Responsibilities include communicating directly with contractors/designers regarding project cost, staffing, and scheduling. The Project Manager will also prepare project status reports and work to ensure plans adhere to contract specifications.

Russell has an opportunity for a Project Manager who will ensure these mission critical facilities are constructed in accordance with Russell’s standards and to the level of quality that our clients expect. This person will play a vital role in the advancement of technology that powers businesses, communities, and global communications for generations to come. 

The Project Manager  will support construction activities for one or more projects.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

This role has the following key duties and responsibilities: 

  • You will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of multi-project programs to ensure the goals or objectives of the projects are accomplished within prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.
  • You will be expected to become thoroughly familiar with the contractual requirements of your projects to ensure proper interpretation and compliance by all parties.
  • You will be the primary point of contact with the owner, architect, contractors, special vendors, consultants, and construction team with direct report responsibility for the project.
  • You will be expected to maintain positive professional business relationships with all project team members.
  • You will be responsible for reviewing all plans and specifications during all design phases. You will leverage your experience in construction to offer advice regarding systems, materials, construction feasibility, availability of labor and materials, time requirements for procurement, installation and construction, relative costs, and value engineering.
  • You will assist with the preparation and review of cost estimates during the schematic, preliminary design development, and construction documents design stages and you will lead the reconciliation of those estimates with the design team.
  • You will recommend disposition and monitor the timely resolution of all project claims and major change orders.
  • You will be responsible for reviewing project billings for the client.
  • You will monitor the project status for schedule, cost, quality, and appropriate procedures.
  • You will be expected to take appropriate action to correct any problems in order to ensure client satisfaction and the successful fulfillment of the project’s contract requirements.
  • You will manage the preparation of objectives and accurate periodic reports.
  • You will be expected to properly advise the client of project conditions that could hinder progress and recommend corrective actions to resolve problems.
  • You will be expected to perform work in a safe manner and actively encourage others to comply with safety rules and regulations, including wearing personal protective devices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Construction or Business Management
  • 8 - 12 years of relevant experience; Experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year basis. 

Key Skills and Competencies 

  • A strong understanding of program management, construction management, and development
  • Knowledge of construction marketing concepts, procedures, and terminology
  • A strong background in the composition of reports, proposals, technical correspondence, and documentation
  • Knowledge of the organizational structure of H.J. Russell & Company
  • Understanding of the principles of supervision
  • Word processing and spreadsheet computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), working knowledge of contract administration tools, and advanced knowledge of project management tools.
  • Ability to read/understand construction drawings and documents
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to make decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and practices in individual field
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple assignments and tasks for one or more projects 

Language Skills 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees 

Mathematical Skills 

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
