SUMMARY
H.J. Russell is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant who is responsible for executing tasks across the Finance function. The Staff Accountant will provide accounting support in accordance with US GAAP. This position reports to a Senior Accountant in the HJ Russell & Company finance team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must be a team player and support a collaborative, customer centric, environment,
- Understanding of A/R, A/P process required,
- Job Cost experience preferred,
- Book journal entries for monthly accounting activity, job cost adjustments and accruals,
- Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts,
- Prepare general ledger entries for month end close,
- Review the general ledger for accuracy and perform variance analyses,
- Respond to inquiries and requests from project staff and office personnel,
- Assist with Audit, incl. Interim and Final fieldwork,
- Help with any projects that may be requested.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

- An accounting professional with a construction background is preferred – ERP is CMIC,
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from a four-year accredited college or university,
- 3 years or more experience within a Corporate and/or Construction Accounting environment,
- CPA certification or in the process of obtaining CPA is strongly preferred.
- Job costing and job billing experience is a plus, pre-requisite is exposure to the requirements of Billing and A/R management & Payables.
- Self-starter, dependable, detail orientated with good analytical and organizational skills,
- Good communication skills,
- Thrives in a culture / environment where continuous improvement is sought with a strong interest in improving the automation of the accounting and reporting process,
- Team player willing to assist and support team mates, internal customers, and external stakeholders,
- Advance proficiency in Excel and other Office programs.
