Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Full-Time Material Handler to join the H.L. Lawson team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our distribution center by managing the movement of materials and products. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, heavy lifting, and the ability to operate various types of equipment safely. This position reports to the Director of Operations and Compliance.
Duties
- Operate forklift and pallet jacks to transport materials within the warehouse.
- Load and unload shipments, ensuring accurate inventory management.
- Assist in shipping and receiving processes, verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders.
- Communicate any discrepancies found while sorting product to pallets to the Director of Operations and Compliance or Project Coordinator
- Build secure and neat sorted pallets per customer requirement; Handle materials and finished pallets with care to prevent damage during transportation and storage.
- Label, wrap, and store each fully built pallet according to customer specification
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency compliant with Company policies
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
- Perform routine safety and maintenance inspections on equipment; equipment fluid maintenance; complete and remit inspection checklist, communicate identified maintenance needs
- Utilize mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting of equipment issues.
- Sweep and clean warehouse spaces at the end of each campaign and as the rooms are emptied
- Turn out lights and ensure the building is secured at the end of each day as required
Skills
- Proficient in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment.
- Experience in a distribution center environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of shipping and receiving procedures.
- Familiarity with materials handling techniques and best practices.
- Mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job duties.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
