Job Summary:
The Kitchen Worker will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals for the children and staff at H.L. Neblett Community Center. This position ensures a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment while helping to meet the nutritional needs of children in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in meal preparation for children and staff, following nutrition guidelines and portion sizes.
- Help with food storage, ensuring proper handling of food items to meet health and safety standards.
- Set up and clean the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and cookware.
- Ensure the kitchen remains stocked with necessary supplies, and notify the Kitchen Manager when items are running low.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen areas, including floors, countertops, and appliances.
- Follow all safety protocols and adhere to food safety standards, including proper food temperature and allergen management.
- Assist in serving meals and snacks to children in a timely and efficient manner.
- Comply with all daycare policies and procedures, including health regulations and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director Nutrition
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Must be patient, friendly, and able to interact with children in a positive manner.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Flexible, dependable, and organized with a strong attention to detail.
