Position Title : Piping Designer
Reports to : Piping Department Manager
Position Status : Permanent – Full Time
FLSA Status : Non- Exempt
Location : Corpus Christi, TX of Freeport, TX (Hybrid)
Work Schedule : Standard schedule is Monday through Friday.
Purpose : Execute pipe design projects related to heavy industrial facilities.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Perform piping drafting / design tasks including 3D routing of pipe, determine location of pipe supports and creation of Isometric drawings, sketches necessary for the fabrication and installation of piping systems.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment drawings and technical data from third party vendors.
- Develop, quantify, and organize piping material take-off’s (MTO’s)
- Follow company CAD standards and client piping specifications
- Ensure design compliance with respective client / company specification and codes.
- Perform fieldwork necessary to gather data, check tie-ins and provide construction support
- Ability for check and back check drawings produced by drafting.
- Interact with designers and engineers within the engineering group, and from other disciplines, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction.
- Work within company policy as outlined in the H M Employee Handbook as well as the H M Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.
- Interface with designers from other disciplines to provide a complete 3D model that meets project requirements.
- Competent in understanding and updating P&ID’s

Environment : Working conditions encountered in this job include those found in a typical office setting as well as an indoor / outdoor manufacturing setting which includes exposure to outside weather conditions, work at elevated heights, climbing of stairs and ladders, and physical manipulation of tools and mechanical equipment. This job demands the use of typical manufacturing personal protective equipment as well as advanced protective equipment as needed.
