Pipefitter Helper

Position Title: Pipefitter Helper

Reports to: Piping Superintendent

Position Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Location: Robstown, TX

Work Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday through Friday. Weekends on an as needed basis.

Summary: An Industrial Pipefitter Helper will assist in the assembly, layout, installation and maintenance of pipe systems on the new construction within Chemical plants, petrochemical plants, or oil and gas refineries,

Core Job Responsibilities

· Identify all tools required for tasks.

· Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.

· Assist with preparation, fabrication, installation, and fitting of pipe to specifications.

· Assist with the installation of valves, hangers, supports, flanges inside piping system according to plans and applicable specifications.

· Assist with the testing to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.

· Assist with hoisting loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

· Must have 1-2 years of experience working as an industrial Pipefitter Helper

· TWIC Card (for most sites)

· Must be able to follow instructions.

· Must meet all qualifications below. (See below).

· Must have reliable transportation

· Must be able to meet all physical demands. (See below).

· Must have experience on an industrial construction project.

· Must have all the required tools

· Good problem-solving abilities.

· Good aptitude and manual dexterity.

· Good reading comprehension.

· Ability to work with others – team player.

· Ability to work independently – minimal supervision.

· Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.

· A commitment to H M values and safety rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

· Stand or walk for long periods of time

· Will talk and hear to communicate.

· Use arms and hands to signal, reach for, handle or manipulate objects, materials, and tools.

· Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.

· Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.

· Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs.

· See well (naturally or with correction)

· Eye-hand coordination

· Good physical fitness

· Good sense of balance

· Work at heights

Tool Requirements: Employees are required to utilize their own tools. A detailed tool list will be provided during processing.

Environment:

• Work in extreme heat
• Work where noise level is above 89 decibels
• Work in wetness/humidity
• Work in cramped quarters
• Work in environment of fluctuating ventilation
• Work outside
