Job Summary
H&M Transport is seeking a Regional Captain with an entrepreneurial spirit to lead and grow our Lynchburg Market. The ideal candidate will manage drivers, oversee operations, ensure safety compliance, and assist in growing the business in their assigned region. The Region Captain will be responsible for scheduling, training, and fleet maintenance in collaboration with the Fleet Manager, as well as reducing operational overhead and enhancing safety protocols.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist in the growth and development of the regional office.
- Collaborate on hiring and training staff for the assigned region.
- Partner with the Business Development VP to establish relationships and secure business in the region.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth workflow and addressing any issues promptly.
- Approve timecards and oversee scheduling for the regional office.
- Ensure daily pre-trip inspections of all vehicles are completed by staff.
- Serve as a liaison between facilities and assigned staff, addressing concerns and resolving issues.
- Conduct safety checks both in the field and via telematics.
- Perform QA, QR, and safety audits for regional staff to ensure compliance.
- Transport patients/clients using company vehicles in a safe and professional manner when necessary.
- Maintain open communication with dispatch and management, providing updates on schedule progress and receiving instructions.
- Uphold a professional image and positive attitude towards clients, business partners, and co-workers.
- Perform daily vehicle pre-trip inspections and ensure vehicles are kept clean.
- Arrange for vehicle servicing at designated stations or notify the Fleet Manager as required.
- Safely assist patients/clients during transport as needed.
- Report any complaints, safety incidents, or concerns to management immediately.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong understanding of the H&M Handbook and standard operating procedures. Must stay compliant with driver safety and training audits.
- Minimum age of 21 and must meet insurance provider's approval criteria.
- Hold a valid Virginia driver’s license and provide a 10-year DMV printout.
- Maintain a minimum 2 driver point balance.
- Pass a mandatory criminal background check and drug screening.
- Competent in using smartphones, GPS systems, and transportation apps.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and special transportation details.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Physically capable of stepping up/down stairs, securing clients, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Own a smartphone with a sufficient data plan for routing and work-related communication.
