Position Overview:
The Health and Inspection Specialist will play a pivotal role in overseeing and ensuring compliance with
health and safety regulations across our West Coast locations. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional
with extensive experience in the health inspection field, preferably someone who has served as an inspector
with a California health county and is now retired or looking for a full-time or consulting opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive food safety and health compliance programs across all West Coast H Mart locations.
- Oversee and conduct regular, high-level health and safety inspections, ensuring all stores meet or exceed local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
- Direct the certification process for food managers and handlers, ensuring all certifications are current and aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Partner with regional and store management teams to proactively identify, address, and resolve health and safety issues, fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
- Maintain full compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable health, safety, and food safety authorities, ensuring all locations are audit-ready at all times.
- Monitor and stay ahead of evolving health, safety, and food safety regulations; update policies, procedures, and training programs to align with industry best practices.
- Lead the design and delivery of advanced training programs for store managers and employees on health, safety, and food compliance protocols, cultivating a proactive and knowledgeable workforce.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the corporate compliance team, regional leadership, and external regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
- At least 5-10 years of extensive experience in health inspection, with a strong understanding of California health regulations.
- Previous experience working with a California health county as an inspector.
- Certification in food management and food handling, or the ability to certify others.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with team and make informed decisions.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Travel required
Pay range:
- $80k-110k per year
