Position Overview:
A growing and well-established reverse mortgage provider is seeking an experienced Financial Regulatory Attorney to join its legal and compliance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to advise on a wide range of state and federal regulatory matters relevant to the reverse mortgage sector, while helping shape marketing, compliance, and risk strategies.
The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of financial regulations impacting mortgage products, ideally with 5 years of direct experience advising on reverse mortgage-related issues or adjacent consumer finance products. The company is also open to candidates with a marketing compliance background who can demonstrate fluency in consumer finance laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on regulatory requirements related to reverse mortgage products, including FHA and HUD rules.
- Monitor and interpret developments in consumer finance law at both federal and state levels.
- Partner with compliance and marketing teams to review and advise on advertising, promotions, and customer-facing materials.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal policies and training programs related to regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with regulators and support responses to examinations, audits, and inquiries.
- Draft and negotiate contracts with regulatory implications.
Qualifications:
- JD and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5 years’ legal experience in financial services, with reverse mortgage or consumer lending expertise strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of TILA, RESPA, UDAAP, GLBA, and related laws.
- Experience in marketing compliance a plus.
- Excellent judgment, communication, and collaboration skills.
