Position Overview:
H&P is representing an established private equity firm focused on investments in the technology and software sector. They are seeking a highly skilled and driven Associate to join their Atlanta team in 2026. The firm has just raised its third and largest fund to date, positioning itself for an exciting phase of growth. This role will offer significant exposure to the investment process, with direct involvement in deal sourcing, due diligence, execution, and portfolio management. Key Responsibilities:
- Investment Sourcing and Origination: Assist in identifying new investment opportunities within the technology and software sector by leveraging industry contacts, market research, and relationships with intermediaries. Actively contribute to the pipeline of potential transactions.
- Financial Modelling and Due Diligence: Lead the development of detailed financial models and valuations for potential investments. Conduct rigorous due diligence, including evaluating financial statements, assessing operational performance, and identifying risks and value creation opportunities.
- Investment Committee Presentations: Prepare comprehensive investment memos, including financial analysis, industry trends, risk assessments, and strategic opportunities. Present investment recommendations to senior team members and the investment committee.
- Transaction Execution: Collaborate with senior team members on structuring and negotiating deals, conducting legal and financial reviews, and managing all stages of the transaction process through to closing.
- Sector Expertise and Market Analysis: Use deep sector knowledge to evaluate market trends, competitive landscapes, and growth drivers within the firm’s focus industries (technology and software). Support the development of strategic investment theses.
- Portfolio Management and Value Creation: Work closely with portfolio company management teams to support operational improvements, implement growth strategies, and monitor financial performance. Contribute to strategic decisions that drive value creation and enhance performance.
- Mentorship and Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts, helping them develop skills in financial modelling, due diligence, and deal execution.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, having graduated in either 2023 or 2024.
- Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, with exposure to the technology and software sector.
Skills:
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, with the ability to assess complex financial statements and investment opportunities.
- Experience in conducting thorough due diligence and transaction execution.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present investment opportunities and insights clearly to senior team members and external stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of one or more of the firm’s target sectors (technology and software).
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
