POSITION TITLE: Production Planner
REPORTS TO: Product Inventory Control Manager
LOCATION: 2000 W. Main St. Louisville, OH 44641
JOB SUMMARY: The Production Planner is a key role within our strategic plan for the operational success of H-P Products. Excellent organizational skills, ability to balance short term priorities and exceptional information analysis skills are necessities for success in this role. The Production Planner position is primarily responsible for ensuring that manufacturing jobs are optimally planned for efficient production to meet customer demands and requirements. This role is responsible for materials requirements planning, maintaining inventory levels as well as product life cycle. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining strong knowledge of products, supporting material/product level revisions, interacting and coordinating with sales personnel, interacting/coordinating with suppliers on a variety of topics, and supporting other business functions as required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan production based on customer demand, forecasts and historical data.
- Prioritize operations to ensure maximum efficiency of production
- Monitor jobs to ensure they are started and completed on time
- Maintain strong working relationships and communications with manufacturing and suppliers to confirm production/shipping schedules and monitor open purchase orders for all orders to ensure on-time deliveries including timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems.
- Expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes.
- Proactively report product and material availability issues.
- Manage the inter-company flow or materials between warehouse locations.
- Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development
- Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options.
- Ensure and promote compliance to H-P policies and procedures.
- Complete special projects and assignments as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not always required).
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
· Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies (preferred).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in production scheduling and forecasting.
- Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools, and inventory management systems.
- Understanding of capacity planning and workflow optimization.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams (production, procurement, logistics, etc.).
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
