Warehouse Clerk - Distribution Center

WAREHOUSE CLERK

Under supervision, the warehouse employee is responsible for assisting in a variety of warehouse duties, including shipping, receiving, unloading and loading trucks, fulfilling orders, monitor and maintain the company’s inventory. Warehouse employees are required to use powered or non-powered materials handling equipment.

Duties for a Warehouse Employee

Tasks May Include, But Not Limited To The Following

• Receive trucks and unload merchandise.
• Stack merchandise on racks.
• Check in merchandise and affix labels.
• Match purchase orders to sales orders and distribute to sales associates for processing.
• Fulfill customer orders.
• Move materials off racks and package for shipment.
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items.
• Follow all safety codes.
• Place merchandise on pallets or shelves for distribution.
• Sort material according to size, type, style, color, or product code.
• Carry out tasks as assigned by the warehouse supervisor / manager.
• Determine and execute proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on shelf life and space availability.
• Practice personal safety and vigilance in the identification of safety and security hazards to actively support a safe and hazard free working environment.
• Use proper body mechanics while lifting to avoid injuries and comply with safe handling procedures regarding receiving, storing, and shipping materials, supplies, and/or equipment.
• Perform mathematical computations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, and percentages) for checking, counting, shipping, and tracking materials.
• Complete tasks in a timely, detailed, and orderly manner.
• Read and comprehend written materials (e.g., references, summaries, memos, letters) in order to apply information and determine appropriate courses of action.
• Employees will have a neatness and willingness to do heavy manual labor in either indoor or outdoor storage areas.
• May need to participate in maintaining warehouse, office and restroom cleanliness.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Previous experience in a warehouse preferred.
• Be able to sit/stand and/or walk for 8 hours at a time without any issues.
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Be able to reach, push, pull, squat and bend for 8 hours or more.
• Be able to work nights / weekends
• Customer service experience a plus
• Computer knowledge and/or ability to learn computer program
  
  

Knowledge And Abilities

Knowledge of:

• Methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, and shipping material and supplies; methods of packing and unpacking material and supplies
• Common forms and documents used in a receiving and shipping department
• Operation of forklift trucks and other types of materials handling equipment;
• Methods of taking inventories and maintaining simple inventory records.
  
  

Ability To

• Read and write at a level required for successful job performance;
• Make accurate computations relating to warehouse work
• Follow instructions.
