What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at H&S Technical Service?
Shipper Job Purpose: Shippers keep track of all outgoing shipments. They make sure that all orders are filled correctly and processed for delivery.
Shipper Job Duties:
- Examine contents of containers and compare with records, such as Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Work Orders, invoices, or other documents, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
- Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
- Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Six months or more related experience and/or training in a fast paced, warehouse shipping environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds.
- Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds.
- Computer skills using MS Access and web based shipping programs preferred.
- Safety sensitive position.
Work Conditions: * Schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
