The Role and Responsibilities
As an Automation and Controls Technician, your primary focus is on hands-on technical work, troubleshooting, maintaining, and integrating mechanical, electrical, and control systems into a cohesive mechatronic system. You play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of advanced automation and robotics. This role demands a strong understanding of robotics, control systems, and mechanical systems, along with excellent practical problem-solving and technical skills. Your Key Areas of Impact
Technical Maintenance and Support : You perform maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on mechatronic systems, including mechanical components, electrical circuits, and control systems. This involves interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and documentation to ensure all systems are properly maintained and meet performance standards. Your focus on precision, troubleshooting, and technical acumen ensures equipment operates effectively and efficiently, minimizing downtime.
System Troubleshooting and Diagnostics : Utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques, you identify and resolve malfunctions in mechatronic systems. By analyzing system performance and conducting routine inspections, you ensure any issues are promptly addressed. Your practical knowledge of engineering principles and mechanical systems is vital for ensuring the reliability of equipment and processes. Working collaboratively with engineers and other technicians, you contribute to the seamless operation of production systems.
Testing and Calibration : You execute testing protocols to validate and calibrate mechatronic systems, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to performance standards. Analyzing test data, you make necessary adjustments to improve system accuracy and reliability. Your hands-on experience with tools and equipment, combined with your attention to detail, ensures all systems meet operational requirements.
Documentation and Safety Compliance : You maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and testing procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. This includes updating technical manuals, maintenance logs, and safety protocols. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety ensure a secure and compliant work environment.
Collaboration and Communication : You work closely with engineers, operators, and other team members to optimize system performance and resolve technical challenges. Requirements :
You’ve received your high school diploma and may hold an associate’s degree from an accredited institution or certification in mechatronics technology, electronics engineering technology, automation and control systems, mechanical engineering technology, industrial maintenance technology, or electrical technology, and you’ve spent at least three (3) years in a hands-on mechatronic systems position, preferably with experience in robotics. You are proficient in electronic controls, software, and automation systems. You will work with a high-level of integrity, confidentiality, organization, and time management. You are proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
This position requires working 12-hour shifts from 5 : 30am to 5 : 30pm for the day shift OR 5 : 30pm to 5 : 30am for the night shift, with either shift following a rotating schedule of three days on and four days off, alternating with four days on and three days off. You will enjoy every other weekend off , providing a well-balanced schedule. We offer a premium shift differential of 10% for all nighttime hours, ensuring your dedication is both recognized and rewarded. Overtime pay is provided at a rate of one and one-half times the regular hourly rate for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek, in accordance with federal and state labor laws.
The Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel
Your work is conducted primarily in a dynamic manufacturing setting, requiring flexibility to work in both office and production floor environments, where exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures is common, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols. This job requires remaining in a stationary position 30% of the time, whether standing or sitting, and moving about inside the facility. This job requires manual dexterity, as it involves operating machinery, tools, or controls, and handling or manipulating objects. The job involves both close-up work and monitoring processes from a distance, as well as identifying and distinguishing colors. The ability to discern various sounds and alarms is crucial for maintaining safety and operational efficiency. This job requires operating a computer 40% of the time. This job requires the ability to be able to lift to 50 lbs.
