The Role and Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, your primary focus is on hands-on technical work and troubleshooting. You play a pivotal role in driving the company's success by maintaining, repairing, and optimizing a wide range of production-related machines and equipment. This role demands a deep understanding of mechanical systems and control logic, along with exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and innovative thinking skills. Your expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues ensures that our systems operate at peak efficiency and reliability.
Your Key Areas of Impact
Maintenance and Repair : You are responsible for the maintenance and repair of all production-related machinery, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, wash plants, palletizing units, cranes, and forklifts. This includes troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and executing repairs to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
Predictive and Preventative Maintenance :
You execute both predictive and preventative maintenance programs. This involves regular inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments to prevent breakdowns and extend the life of the equipment. Your proactive approach helps minimize downtime and maintain high productivity levels.
Technical Support and Training :
Providing technical direction and support, you assist other technicians in troubleshooting and repairing complex issues. You also play a key role in training staff on proper maintenance procedures and the operation of equipment, ensuring a knowledgeable and capable team.
System Improvements and Upgrades :
You identify and implement critical machine improvements, focusing on areas such as solvent emission controls and overall equipment efficiency. Your innovative thinking and problem-solving skills contribute to the continuous improvement of our production systems.
Safety and Compliance :
Adhering to all safety rules and regulations, you ensure proper housekeeping of your work area and maintain updated training in Lock-out / Tag-out, Welding and Cutting Safety, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response. Your commitment to safety helps maintain a secure working environment.
Documentation and Reporting :
You maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards. This includes completing paperwork related to preventative maintenance and repair work, as well as managing technical documentation and safety guidelines.
Collaboration and Coordination :
You coordinate maintenance activities with other departments to schedule downtime and ensure minimal disruption to production. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills facilitate effective collaboration across teams, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Equipment Installation and Fabrication :
You install, upgrade, and perform modifications on production equipment. This includes using metalworking tools, welding, and abricating parts and structures to enhance machine performance and safety.
Root Cause Analysis :
You conduct thorough root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Your analytical skills are crucial for diagnosing and resolving persistent issues.
Emergency Response :
You are prepared to respond to emergency breakdowns promptly, minimizing production downtime and ensuring continuous operation.
Requirements : Requirements
You hold a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 3-10 years of hands-on experience in a maintenance role within a production / manufacturing environment. You have a demonstrated ability in hands-on technical work, including troubleshooting and diagnosing complex technical issues. You are proficient in understanding equipment control systems and controls logic. Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and simulation tools is advantageous. You work with a high level of integrity, confidentiality, organization, and time management. You are familiar with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
This position requires working 12-hour shifts from 5 : 30am to 5 : 30pm for the day shift OR 5 : 30pm to 5 : 30am for the night shift, with either following a rotating schedule of three days on and four days off, alternating with four days on and three days off. You will enjoy every other weekend off , providing a well-balanced schedule. We offer a premium shift differential of 10% for all nighttime hours, ensuring your dedication is both recognized and rewarded. Overtime pay is provided at a rate of one and one-half times the regular hourly rate for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek, in accordance with federal and state labor laws.
The Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel
Your work is conducted primarily in a dynamic manufacturing setting, requiring flexibility to work in both office and production floor environments, where exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures is common, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols. This job requires remaining in a stationary position 30% of the time, whether standing or sitting, and moving about inside the facility. This job requires manual dexterity, as it involves operating machinery, tools, or controls, and handling or manipulating objects. The job involves both close-up work and monitoring processes from a distance, as well as identifying and distinguishing colors. The ability to discern various sounds and alarms is crucial for maintaining safety and operational efficiency. This job requires operating a computer 30% of the time. This job requires the ability to be able to lift to 50 lbs.
