H2M architects engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm seeks a Resident Engineer in our Melville, NY office to oversee and direct the resident engineering construction observation teams assigned to various infrastructure projects. In this position will work closely with the client's management team and the construction contractor to deliver successful projects.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides oversight management on assigned project and all staff assigned to project.
Leads all project site coordination meetings.
Ensure the required testing and inspection of materials used on projects is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and ordinances on behalf of clients/owners.
Provides quality assurance, testing procedures, observation protocols, construction techniques, and timely completion of daily observation activities.
Reviews plans for assigned projects, observes, and inspects construction work performed by others and attends pre-construction conferences, progress meetings and safety meetings.
Interprets drawings and specifications.
Monitors contract cost and schedule; reviews change order preparation as necessary.
Reviews submittals and other related construction documents and recommends technical solutions.
Performs daily construction observation, daily reports, punch list inspections, and participates in project schedule/invoice reviews.
Reviews and approves contractor requisitions for payment.
Mentors and/or supervises junior staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college required.
Valid NYS P.E. License required
Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in construction inspection and/or management of infrastructure projects (water, wastewater, road construction, architectural/mason construction, etc.)
Must have strong communication skills to lead and direct project initiatives
Demonstrated ability to tactfully shift priorities and solve problems at multiple levels
The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $145,000 annually.

Note: The salary or hourly rate indicated does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
