H2M architects and engineers is seeking a Department Manager to join our well-established Melville, NY office. We seek a dynamic professional engineer to direct projects, manage client relations, and develop and manage our Mechanical team on overall HVAC design / project management responsibilities.
Our MEP solutions place an emphasis on building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. And while our efforts might not be visible in the finished product, the effortlessness they bring to our client’s building’s operations will be.
Come join our multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers and environmental scientists in our Melville Long Island office. Working with architects, civil engineers, and environmental scientists, you will be managing Mechanical / HVAC design work for both public and private clients.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic professional who is just as comfortable managing the work as they are interfacing with clients and helping us build our business. As a part of the H2M Team, you will have the support of our 500 staff to help you succeed in all aspects of your work. We emphasize collaboration and community involvement and promote sustainability in our practice, ensuring that the right projects are developed with minimal impact on the environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the Mechanical Engineering department, overseeing staff workload and ensuring timely completion of all Mechanical / HVAC projects in coordination with other MEP teams and disciplines within the firm.
- Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments; assess overall project and financial performance.
- Project supervision and coordination with other engineering and architecture departments within the firm.
- Preparation of construction drawings and specifications for public and private bidding.
- Client relationship building; communicate with clients in support and coordination of all project activities.
- Technical leadership, production and scheduling, quality control, and cost proposals.
- Participate in possible business development initiatives and efforts.
- Nurture client relationships, which include attending meetings, answering questions, and providing resolutions to problems / issues that may arise.
- Lead / Attend project meetings pertaining to construction administration; review contractor submittals and provide feedback and clarification when needed.
- Other functions / duties as assigned to grow, enhance, and lead the Mechanical Engineering team and MEP discipline.
Education and Qualifications
The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $175,000 annually.
