JOB SUMMARY
The VP of Manufacturing will participate in the creation and implementation of a strategic business plan designed to bring operational efficiencies to help grow the business significantly over the next three to five years, while directing manufacturing operations through a team of functional managers and supervisors. The position ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of workforce, materials, and machines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides clear and missional leadership as well as positive and disciplined coaching of subordinates, enabling them to achieve desired results. Foster a collaborative culture providing for accountability and authority at the most practical level closest to work undertaken.
  • Establishes priorities and oversee production schedules to support target metrics, and customers’ delivery and quality requirements.
  • Ensures capacity is aligned with committed orders, due dates, and capabilities.
  • Coordinates with management and leads production manager(s) to ensure the Company’s production, quality and Lean objectives are supported.
  • Conducts weekly manufacturing operations review of order status, quality and performance objectives and lead change initiatives for corrective actions and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborates with administrative and technical functions to ensure customer contractual requirements are being fulfilled.
  • Interfaces with the customer as required and supports customer requests.
  • Ensures continuous process improvement principles (“LEAN”) are implemented to improve overall throughput of assigned areas operations.
  • Ensures development of Master Scheduler (for all sites) in collaboration with other personnel, to support customer requirements company wide.
  • Ensures performance measurement metrics in all production areas are accurate and enhanced as needed to maintain a healthy and competitive operation.
  • Leads policy deployment in the areas of lean manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and plant performance measures.
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships (i.e., “healthy sense of urgency”).
  • Ensures corporate goals and objectives are met with “VTO’s” as primary reference point for individual goals and objective

  • A sophisticated, operations businessperson, capable of making solid judgments based upon available information that creates and sustains maximum value for the organization while conserving company resources.
  • An individual of high integrity and honesty, along with the capacity and motivation to see and act upon the strategic vision for the company.
  • A strategically focused individual with a history of successfully implementing change in a fast-paced industry.
  • An outstanding negotiator that will seek effective, profitable solutions to problems for customers’ requirements.
  • Strong presentation skills in both speaking and writing. The candidate should possess persuasive speaking skills with audiences of all levels.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (in applicable field); experience considered in lieu of.
  • 10 years of manufacturing management experience
o preferably in a sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, complex welding and/or automation setting
  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience (personnel, teams, projects, programs)
  • Experience in the development and management of shop floor personnel and supervisors is required.
  • Multi-facility leadership experience is preferred.
  • Previous successful implementation of lean manufacturing principles is required.
  • Significant past performance demonstrating the ability to discover and consistently provide high value manufacturing services which maintain, grow, and enhance profit margins.
  • Skilled in the use of computers, comfortable in technical and engineering-oriented environments is necessary.
