This is what you need to understand about this role:
- This position may be offered a part- or full-time position in the future as openings arise
- You’ll be providing direct patient care
- Shifts may be scheduled at our Oakland or Hayward locations
- Being a team player is important to us so be ready to help with anything that is needed, willing to assist others, and act as a resource to staff and patients where appropriate
These are the main responsibilities for this role:
Patient Care/Education:
- Dispense medications
- Use independent clinical judgment to assess patient substance use/abuse/dependency, along with screening of substance withdrawal symptoms, safety, and other health-related concerns
- Liaison with hospitals and jails regarding patients
- Provide patient education on substance abuse and the medical consequences, including the interaction of clinic prescribed medications and other substances
- Explain program rules and regulations to patients during initial dose and as needed
- Provide Medical Director, Physician, NP, PA, Counselors, and other staff with pertinent information concerning patients' behavior, financial status, and attendance at the clinic. Initiate appropriate documentation as indicated
If the following qualifications fit you, we would like to chat with you:
- Licensed to practice in the state of California
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in good standing with the State of California
- Ability to provide compassionate care to every patient
- Able to lift at least 25lbs, bending and reaching throughout the day
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, monitor and treat patient needs, and maintain accurate records
- Fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing of reports, charting, correspondence, and presentations, either manually or orally
- Sufficient endurance to handle a regular workday
- Ability to comply with the most recent infection control guidelines from CDC, State, County and City
