What are the responsibilities and job description for the Road Maintenance Worker (FT) position at Habersham County Board of Commissioners?
This position is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and repair of County roadways and related
infrastructure.
Major Duties:
- Assists with constructing, maintaining, and repairing County roads, rights-of-way, bridges,
- Installs drainage pipes.
- Locates underground utilities.
- Assists in driveway maintenance.
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
- Assists with the maintenance of vehicles and equipment, including checking fluid levels,
changing oil, and checking air, tires, blades, belts, hoses, and lubrication.
- Assists in the design, construction, and installation of street signs; assists with traffic counts;
assists in maintaining sign inventory.
- Assists with the establishment and lay-out of construction projects.
- Research property deeds for right-of-way acquisitions.
- Flags traffic at work sites.
- Clean out culverts.
- Cleans up storm damage.
- Collect litter and debris for right-of-way.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the
position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had
a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia
The successful candidate must pass a Background/Reference Check, and Pre-Employment Drug
Screenings prior to the start of employment.
