Join Habitat for Humanity Buffalo as an AmeriCorps Construction Crew Leader and play a vital role in building homes and hope for families in need.
- Location: Habitat for Humanity Buffalo, Buffalo, NY
- Term: Full-time, 10 ½ months
- Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Personal Vehicle Required: Yes
- COVID-19 Vaccination Required: No
- Lead and manage diverse groups of skilled and unskilled volunteers, as well as homeowners, in construction activities.
- Perform hands-on tasks, including:
- Demolition
- Site preparation
- Framing
- Insulation
- Drywall installation
- Flooring
- Roofing
- Finish carpentry
- Landscaping
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing Habitat for Humanity construction safety policies.
- Ensure a positive and productive experience for all volunteers on-site.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to drive or willingness to learn to operate large pickup trucks.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Physical ability to:
- Stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Work on ladders and heights up to two stories.
- Living Allowance: $18,700 for the 10 ½ month service term.
- Education Award: Segal Education Award upon successful completion of service.
- Housing: Free housing at a Habitat Buffalo property with some utilities included.
- Healthcare: Health care benefits and access to an Employee Assistance Plan.
