Description: Employee in this position is responsible for administering the Affiliate’s Family Selection and Support Program in accordance with Affiliate policies and procedures. The employee works (under the direction of the Board of Directors, Executive Director and the Chairpersons of the Family Selection and Support Committees) with applicant and partner homeowner families through the application and selection process prior to and after families become accepted into the program.
1. General Administration and Responsibilities:
· Monitors sweat equity activity, coordinates and conducts homeownership education classes, coaches the families during the closing process, mentors families as they assume the responsibilities of homeownership, and offers continued family support and nurture
· Employee will coordinate initial meetings, oversee homeowner incentive programs, informational sessions, and homeowner education
· Employee works with the Executive Director, Volunteer Coordinator, and Construction Manager in an effort to make certain that homeowners are properly informed at all times
· Assist with timely and accurate closing/house transfers
· Screen all applications
· Track and report to Affiliate management the progress of all applications; ensure timely responses and answering inquiries about status of applications
· Serve as staff liaison to Family Support Committee; including attending all meetings, informing Family Support Committee of all pertinent affiliate events; scheduling and organizing all planning and training sessions, speakers and special events
· Prepare family selection information and documentation for Board of Directors meeting, including report and recommendation from Family Support Committee
· Meet with families, as needed, to discuss application process and final decisions
· Schedule and conduct initial meeting with each prospective homeowner upon approval
· Schedule and/or conduct homeowner workshops; schedule presenters; ensure that potential homeowners have completed workshop requirements before moving into home
· Manage and apply for grants to enhance our family services program
2. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
· Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal service skills, consistently performing the responsibilities of the position and treating program participants with respect and dignity
· Customer service skills must include good telephone etiquette (responding to calls with timely and accurate information) and compiling written documentation of significant communications with program participants for Affiliate files
· The position requires the employee to have effective and appropriate instructing, facilitation, coordination, process administration, report compilation, communication (both written and oral), organizational, analytical and mentoring skills
· The position requires a candidate with intermediate level skills in use of computer applications including but not limited to all Microsoft spreadsheet, publisher and word processing applications
Training and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, nonprofit administration, or related field is preferred.Equivalent experience in a relevant field may be considered.
Hours and Compensation: Varies and includes minimal evening and weekend work. Benefits may or may not be included and consist of paid vacation and holidays, sick leave, health insurance and a voluntary retirement savings plan.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and education
