Job Summary: Responsible for planning, managing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating all aspects of resource development for the affiliate. Develop and implement a strategic plan to increase the affiliate’s resources including grant application and management, fundraising, major gifts, planned-giving, sponsorship acquisition, property, and cultivating new donors and volunteers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Grant Opportunities: Source, prepare, and submit grant applications to local, foundational, corporate, and governmental sources. Oversee grant implementation, management, reporting, and termination. Communicate grant requirements to the Executive Director and all relevant affiliate staff. Prioritize recurring grants and add new opportunities as time and staff load permits.
Grant Development:
· Perform in-depth and on-going research on government funding sources, foundations and corporations to evaluate funding prospects
· Maintain on-going, close professional relationships with funders/grant managers
· Develop in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Habitat operations, programs and strategic plan
· Prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals for government, foundation and corporate sources Develop and manage a system to track and report on prospects, pending proposals, awards and grants declined
Grant Compliance:
· Review all grant award documentation to assure Habitat’s ability to comply with specific requirements and timelines; assure award/contract terms match intended agreement
· Complete required contracts, MOUs, loans or other documents and submit to CEO for signature
· Forward copy of grant and reporting requirements and forms to relevant staff and leadership responsible for oversight of implementation
· Inform Finance Dept. of timing, purpose and restrictions pertaining to funding
· Calendar and enter reporting requirements and dates in tracking system
· Secure required reports from program managers
· Submit invoices, reports and funding draw requests
· Identify and collect grant documents needed for annual audit
· Provide periodic updates to CEO & Board of Directors
Marketing: Prepare a comprehensive marketing plan to meet the long-range plan of the affiliate. Identify and pursue sources of corporate and foundation funding, gift planning approaches. Develop, cultivate, and implement major donor solicitation and gift plans. Work with Volunteer Coordinator to generate new and sustained volunteers and donors.
Communication: Develop materials, agency systems, and content and tools for raising funds including website, newsletter, campaign materials, videos, homeowner testimonials, etc.
Fundraising: Work with Fundraising Committee and Volunteer Committee to participate in and support fundraising activities. Evaluate previous fundraising activities, analyze current programs and fundraising activities, and generate new ideas in collaboration with other affiliate staff and the long-range plan of the affiliate.
Administration: Provide accurate development reports to Executive Director and Board. Work well as a “team member” with other administrative personnel. Maintain proper affiliate records in connection with all applicable resources.
Qualifications: Proven ability to gather information from multiple sources and write targeted grant proposals, including complex government grants for affordable housing funding. Exhibits strong communications skills, including public speaking and interpersonal communication. Energetic, creative, detail oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks. Self-starter and ability to work both independently and with other staff and volunteers. Full-time position; salary commensurate with experience. Flexible hours with some evening and weekend work required.
