Salary : $50,000-$55,000

The Construction Site Lead is a key role in achieving the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Horry County (HFHHC). HFHHC seeks to put Gods love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. The Construction Site Leader works alongside our volunteers, homebuyers, and team members in the construction of our new homes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Construct homes using craft skills and industry standard means and methods in accordance with the annual production plan and as directed by the New Home Construction Manager
  • Manage all activity on the build site, adhering to the project plan and schedule, specializing in quality construction, serving as a resource to other personnel on trade-related issues.
  • Create an environment that is engaging and uplifting, where the safety of staff, volunteers and homeowners is a high priority.
  • Ensure the construction site / job abides by all OSHA, County, City, HFHI and HFHHC building regulations.
  • Supervise volunteers with a patient and kind teaching style, understanding that each day will include a volunteer group with a variety of skill levels.
  • Attend Construction staff meetings and collaborate with entire team to procure materials and plan for future needs of build sites.
  • Turn in receipts, paperwork and timesheets in a timely manner.
  • Work with HFHHC staff to ensure that volunteers and families are productively involved in the construction process.
  • Provide updates in Construction software and to New Home Construction Manager regarding estimated completion dates.
  • Conduct walk-through inspection with New Home Construction Manager upon completion of Home Inspection and prior to Closing, to assure punch lists are completed. Work with HFHHC team in providing necessary warranty cards and manuals for the homeowner manual.
  • Oversee projects until they are 100% complete and sold to homeowner.
  • Work with partner families with call backs, warranty issues, or maintenance advice.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Ability to read construction documents
  • Familiarity with local building code
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in residential construction including supervisory experience and / or combination of Academic Construction Education & 2 years' Work experience.
  • Must be experienced with all stages of residential construction.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong team-building skills and ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of office software applications.
  • Must embrace the mission of HFHHC and values of courage, accountability, and humility.
  • Ability to utilize hand tools, operate power tools and perform manual labor as needed / required.
  • Ability to assess the capabilities of others and to teach basic construction techniques to unskilled volunteers and homeowners.
  • High energy, can-do attitude, flexibility, teamwork and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge and application of OSHA safety standards; must get OSHA Competent Person certification as required by Habitat for Humanity International.
  • Must be able to pass HFHHC requirements for background check and drug screen.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and meet Companys Insurance requirements.
  • Physical Demands :

  • Able to lift at least 50lbs. Work may require climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to access all areas of construction sites, lots and large tracts of land.
  • Ability to be in and perform job in various weather conditions including but not limited to heat and cold.
