Full Time Sales Associate

Habitat for Humanity Lake-Sumter has been serving the Lake and Sumter County areas since 1989 to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing. In fact, Habitat for Humanity is known throughout the world as an organization that utilizes a network of volunteers to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for deserving families. HFHLS also serves local families through critical home repair, beautification projects, advocacy efforts, and community education efforts. Habitat Lake-Sumter has two ReStore locations that further our mission of building homes, communities, and hope through generation revenue and brand awareness. This position is primarily responsible for performing various duties associated with selling new or used merchandise generally received via donation or corporate procurement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work cooperatively with others to ensure mission success consistent with organizational goals, values and strategic direction.
• Receive and sort merchandise for sale to place in stock and/or discard as appropriate. Stock shelves and maintain appearance of facility under the direction of the ReStore Manager.
• Assist in loading and/or unloading donations for sale or delivery.
• Provide quality customer service to those who bring in merchandise for resale and those who come into the store to purchase as well.
• May act as cashier who computes or re-computes bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due, makes change, cashes checks and issues receipts or tickets to customers. Read and record totals shown on cash register tape and verify against cash on hand, quote price and describe features of items for which money is received and give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise.
• Perform duties as directed related to store appearance, facility maintenance, and grounds keeping.
• Follow policy guidelines at all times and perform duties in a manner that ensures the safety of self and others.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer knowledgeable, including Microsoft Word and Database software. Must have willingness to learn other programs as needed.
• Proficiency in delivering exceptional service to customers.
• Ability to lift heavy items at least 50 pounds on a routine basis, push approximately 100 pounds, and stand for four or more hours at a time

Work Schedule:

• Monday-Saturday (off Wednesday, Sunday, & 4 of 5 Saturdays; off every 5th Saturday)
• Works 7-8 hours per day between the hours of 9:30 AM-6:00 PM Monday-Friday and 9:30 AM-4:30 PM on Saturday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.50 - $13.75 per hour
