What are the responsibilities and job description for the Major Gifts Officer position at Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, CA?
This Major Gift Officer position will play a critical role helping Habitat for Humanity of Orange County grow and strengthen our Major Gifts program to achieve our fundraising goals and advance the organization’s strategic objections. This role is responsible for cultivating relationships with donors to secure philanthropic support, which includes identifying, engaging, soliciting, and stewarding donors. Candidates should be passionate about driving impact and excited to join a dynamic, mission driven team with a growth mindset. This role reports to the Chief Development Officer.
Responsibilities
· Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and prospects, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets.
· Create and manage a portfolio of 200 – 250 donors.
· Developing and implementing individual cultivation and solicitation strategies.
· Expand pipeline with new donors and prospects through face-to-face meetings and relationship building.
· Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with development colleagues to maximize the department’s total gift revenue.
· Implements day-to-day department-based development strategies and activities to ensure their integration into the overall development program.
· Researches, writes, edits, and oversees the preparation of persuasive and accurate solicitations, proposals, stewardship reports, correspondence, and other development related communication material in support of the department’s fund-raising activities.
· Responsible for maintaining donor records with updated contact information, meeting notes and other key information; producing necessary fundraising reports
· Maintain an active schedule of donor acknowledgement, stewardship and public recognition, as appropriate.
· Serve as an ambassador for Habitat OC and participate in development related projects.

Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years of individual fundraising work experience with proven track record of developing strategies to grow the mid-level and/or major donor base.
· Outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills.
· Outstanding written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
· Flexibility and willingness to work nights and weekends and must be willing to travel with the service area as needed.
· Experience with donor database tools, preferably Bloomerang; ability to learn and become proficient with this software is required.
