Main Functions: Manage all activities as they relate to the HFHCV ReStore
Position Reports to: HFHCV Executive Director

Habitat for Humanity of the Coachella Valley is a member in good standing of Habitat for Humanity International where our vision is that everyone deserves a decent place to live. In your role as General Manager of the Palm Desert ReStore, you'll help raise the funds necessary to build affordable housing for low-income families and provide no-cost home restoration services for low-income elderly and disabled home owners. ReStore Palm Desert's sales results are already in the top three percent of the 800 ReStores nationwide, so you'll be off to a good start in a position that you can make your own.
Summary
The Habitat ReStore General Manager creates and manages a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for staff and volunteers to deliver high-quality service to donors and customers. Implements and drives programs for product donations leading to increased revenue.
Duties:
Develop ReStore budget, and formulate strategic plans to achieve financial goals·
Maintain accurate accounting records and monitor the cash management system
Provide reports of designated activities including but not limited to: sales, expenses, donations, outreach activities, and other areas of interest to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and HFHI
Effectively manage Habitat ReStore assets to ensure safety and security of employees, volunteers, customers and others
Develop and maintain a clean, organized and well merchandised retail environment that encourages and promotes sales
Develop and oversee the donation procurement process
Plan and implement the ReStore promotional activities and coordinate same with HFHCV marketing and advertising staff
Implement and monitor a systematized pricing methodology for the various product types
Develop, manage and maintain a work schedule to include employees and volunteers, which meets the business needs and profitability goals of the ReStore and HFHCV
Oversee the time accounting system as it relates to ReStore employees
Manage the dispatch schedule and maintenance and licensing of vehicles used for donation pickups and deliveries
Structure and monitor a trash and recycling process for unsold donations
Periodically provide employees with written evaluations and, when necessary, written disciplinary documentation
Act as claims reporting and management liaison between ReStore and HFHCV’s various insurance carriers
Develop and communicate to staff and volunteers appropriate performance metrics for all Habitat ReStore operations and how they relate/contribute to positive customer experience and high-quality operations
Work alongside staff and volunteers to help achieve ReStore goals, using opportunities for mentoring and development
Maintain Approved HFHCV and HFHCV ReStore policies and recommend new policies when appropriate
Other duties as may be deemed appropriate by senior management
Job Requirements
Considerable work experience in store merchandising and operations, preferably in a donated goods environment
Demonstrated ability in managing staff and volunteers in a consistent, positive and safety conscious manner
Familiarity with California and Federal labor laws
A history of successfully adapting to rapidly changing conditions with unexpected shifts in priorities
Advanced PC skills and expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to pass background checks, drug testing, and have a clean DMV record
Ability to work at minimum a five-day schedule with capability to work overtime as necessary
Proficient communication skills with the ability to understand and speak English (Spanish Helpful)
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
A ReStore Manager must have the ability stand, squat, bend, push, pull, while assisting staff and customers load and unload items in and out of their vehicles. Safely handle and organize building materials, furniture and other donated products. Work in all types of weather in non-climate controlled environment. Sit and type at a computer for extended periods of time.
