Job Summary:
The Logistics Operations Supervisor oversees the daily workflow of terminal operations or specific segments such as route launches. This role includes assisting with driver negotiations under the direct supervision of a Terminal Manager. The supervisor may negotiate and enter tentative agreements, but final approval must be obtained from the Terminal Manager or Regional Director before implementation. Additionally, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for aspects of facility P&L within a defined scope, with the full scope of responsibilities depending on the facility’s size and complexity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Organizational Management
- Develops and manages metric-driven logistics, warehousing, and inventory processes, ensuring continuous measurement, analysis, and improvement.
- Maintains knowledge of all customers, employees, and independent contractors, ensuring clear communication of customer requirements.
- Establishes professional relationships with independent contractors, vendors, customers, and employees.
- Assists Terminal Managers with pricing, route analysis, and Xcelerator operations.
- Ensures compliance with DOT and TSA requirements, leveraging internal resources when necessary.
- Supports the Terminal Manager in implementing customer requirements related to security, handling, packing, sorting, receiving, loading, and delivery.
- Operates warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and box trucks, to properly stage and store products.
- Ensures adherence to standard operating procedures and reports unresolved issues to the Terminal Manager.
- Monitors warehouse performance metrics, assisting in receiving, staging, sorting, loading, and delivery operations.
- May operate company-leased or owned equipment as needed to fulfill customer requirements.
- Completes additional duties as assigned to support Hackbarth’s strategic and financial objectives.

- Sets clear expectations and models adherence to company values, holding staff accountable.
- Conducts regular coaching sessions and completes performance reviews on time.
- Directly supervises warehouse and assigned operations staff.

- Maintains knowledge of Hackbarth’s various service lines.
Community Engagement
- Represents Hackbarth’s values within the community and adheres to ethical business practices.
Technology Utilization
- Proficiently operates office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and scanners.
- Uses Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer) effectively.
- Efficiently operates logistics and operations management software, including Xcelerator.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree preferred or a minimum of three years of experience in logistics and transportation management.
- Strong knowledge of transportation and courier operations.
- Experience using transportation management software (Xcelerator or similar preferred).
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with appropriate insurance.
- Ability to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screening.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Function as part of a team.
- Communicate clearly in person and through electronic media.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to walk, talk, or hear (50% of time).
- Regularly required to stand, sit, use hands, and reach with arms (50% of time).
- Frequently lifts and moves up to 50 pounds (50% of time).
- Requires close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical equipment and airborne particles in a warehouse setting.
- Occasional travel within the region and to other Hackbarth locations.
- Weekend or overtime work may be required, particularly during start-ups or new business launches.
