The Associate Physicist is responsible for existing or new applications in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology.
Responsibilties :
A day in the life of a Associate Physicist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes :
- Acceptance testing of new or replaced ionizing radiation producing equipment in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology.
- Design and evaluate radiation protective shielding with the Medical Center, as well as satellite facilities.
- Establish and implement a required regulatory preventive maintenance program within diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology. This includes required testing of the following equipment : general radiographic, general fluoroscopic, computer tomography, mobile radiographic, mobile fluoroscopic, dental, cabinet, cardiac catheterization, mammography, mammography stereotactic, digital radiography, and simulator.
- Performing radiation protection surveys as required by the NJDEP Bureau of Radiological Health.
- Work with genetic counseling to calculate the radiation dose to the fetus when required.
- Keep abreast of the evolving ionizing radiation techniques in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology.
