Responsibilties
A day in the life of a Dietitian at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Directs dietary care of patients with basic nutrition needs including screening, assessment and care planning to ensure patient dietary needs and patient satisfaction levels are met.
- Educates medical staff and counsels¿ patients and their families on proper nutritional care.
- Manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to Hackensack Meridian Health standards and policies.
- Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, special diets and menu requests.
- Stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications and standards of practice.
- Probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Hackensack Meridian Health policies and procedures (e.g. HIPAA/Privacy Act, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).
- Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelors degree
- Entry level experience
- PC skills and its applicable applications
- Acute care clinical or related experience
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist within 60 days of entering position.
