Overview
The On Call Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant plays a vital role in providing psychiatric and medical care to patients and residents of Carrier Clinic during weekend coverage. This position requires adherence to performance improvement standards of patient care as established through Carrier Policies and Procedures. The ideal candidate will provide professional representation of Carrier to other health professionals, community agencies, and the lay public.

This position requires a Graduate of an approved APN Program with experience in psychiatry prescribing meds for at least 1 year. The ideal candidate will interact well with patients,visitors and Facility staff, responding promptly to inquiries with tact and sensitivity. Demonstrates a courteous, cooperative,pleasant and positive attitude and maintains strict standards of confidentiality.
Education and Certifications Required:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required. The ideal candidate must be a certified Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist or Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification is also required.

Responsibilities:
- Provide psychiatric and medical treatment to inpatients on the unit to which they are assigned.
- Follows all EMTALA regulations and Facility requirements concerning EMTALA.
- Completion of a daily progress note including mental health status and diagnosis.
- Completion of medication orders, status,laboratory tests,diets,etc. as needed.
