- Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200 employees and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.
- The Monitor Technician is responsible for monitoring and interpreting the rhythm patterns of patients' hearts as well as reporting any irregularities or variations to the appropriate nursing and medical staff.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms for telemetry patients
- Observe patient telemetry monitoring system and report abnormal responses promptly
- Admit, initiate baseline information, and discharge patients from the system
- Print rhythm strips and document interpretation
- Monitor the accurate functioning of the telemetry monitoring system and report abnormalities
- Maintain a log sheet noting all patient information (patient name, room number, date telemetry applied, and date telemetry discontinued)
- Run an admission strip documenting date, time, PR, QRS, QT, and rhythm
- Documentation of arrhythmias as they occur including date, time, PR interval, QRS measurement, QT, ectopy, and who was notified
- Run and post continuous strip for life-threatening dysrhythmias and code blue emergency events when requested by the RN or Physician
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED
At least 1-year experience as a Monitor Technician or related experience including clinical training time for proficiency
Successful completion of a Monitor Technician course at any hospital facility.
Excellent communication skills and competent working with a team that includes nurses, cardiologists, and various other medical staff
Strong written, verbal, and technical skills.
