Job Summary:
The Damp Proofing Foundation Laborer is responsible for assisting in the installation of damp proofing systems to protect building foundations from moisture damage. This role involves preparing surfaces, applying damp proofing materials, and ensuring high-quality results. The position requires physical labor, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards on job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of foundation surfaces, including cleaning, leveling, and removing debris.
- Apply damp proofing materials such as bitumen coatings, waterproof membranes, or spray applications to foundation walls and surfaces.
- Install protective barriers, drainage systems, or vapor control systems as required by project specifications.
- Mix and handle materials safely, ensuring correct consistency and application methods.
- Support excavation and backfilling tasks to ensure proper application of damp proofing materials around foundations.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment, such as sprayers, rollers, trowels, or trenching tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Monitor application processes to ensure uniform coverage and quality compliance.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to complete projects on time and to specification.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on-site.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction, foundation work, or damp proofing is preferred but not required; training can be provided.
- Familiarity with basic construction tools and materials.
