Job Description
Job Title: Food Service Manager
Department: Retail – Reports To: Store Manager
Customer Satisfaction:
· Provides a clean, sanitary, well-stocked operation in a friendly, inviting atmosphere.
· Resolves all customer concerns, complaints or requests in a timely manner.
Personnel:
· Interview and hire deli employees within the strict adherence of all state and federal laws.
· Train new employees on all aspects of completing food service operations duties.
· Enforces high standards of employee appearance standards, cleanliness, and dress code.
· Continuous training and development of all employees to maximize skills and foster career growth.
· Communicates and enforces strict compliance on the company’s policy and procedures for all employees. Follows corrective action as directed by the Store Manager or policy requirements.
· Accessible to all employees to discuss issues.
Food Preparation:
· Execute all aspects of food service promotions, as communicated by the company and/or Marketing Manager.
· Maintains recipes, and portion control as required to achieve profitability and customer satisfaction.
· Maintains tracking forms on a daily basis to build sales and minimize waste.
· Sufficient stock is on-hand to satisfy seasonal trends and maximize customer satisfaction.
· Enforces cleanliness standards for food storage, preparation environment, and equipment.
Food Safety:
· Holds employee to high standards of food safety practices and procedures in accordance with their Food Safety Certification training.
· Maintains a safe work area and oversees that all safety precautions and policies are followed by employees.
· Provides employees with proper food safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Food is to be kept at the required temperatures and within the freshness timelines.
· Keeps equipment in clean and proper working order. Informs management if in need of repair.
Profitability:
· Monitors daily production logs to maximize sales and minimize waste.
· Understand sales, food cost and bottom-line profitability goals.
· Offers solutions to improve shortfalls or surpass established goals.
Labor Productivity:
· Prepares labor schedule in alignment with authorized hours.
· Ensures employees are properly paid for time worked.
· Coordination of daily deli operations to provide a controlled, organized environment at all times.
· Delegates work responsibilities for all employees. Communicates expectations and follows-up on results.
Inventory Control:
· Orders inventory to provide adequate stock while maintain a fresh and safe product line.
· Ensure proper rotation of products.
· Monitors the costs of food items and provides solutions to reach food cost and profitability goals.
· Complies with Loss Prevention methods such as video reviews, sales discrepancies and employee behavior.
Minimum Requirements:
· ServSafe certified (if not, company will provide certification)
· Allergen certified (if not, company will provide certification)
· Experience in food service for 2 years
Required Skills:
· Ability to drive sales and profitability.
· Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
· Financial understanding of Gross Profit and Food Cost Accounting
· Strong people skills to motivate others.
· Proven capabilities in solving business challenges.
· Ability to set priorities and complete tasks.
· Results-orientated with a willingness to take responsibility and initiative.
· Enthusiastic, self-starter, with a high level of confidence and positive outlook
Availability:
Availability must be flexible regarding hours and days of the week. Work weeks will generally consist of weekends and holidays. Travel flexibility is preferred.
Job Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, reach, bend, and lift. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
