Job Summary
The Heating Oil and Propane Safety Manager will oversee the creation, administration, and execution of an exceptional environmental, health, safety, and quality program for Haffner’s Heating Oil and Propane (HOP). This role involves developing and implementing safety strategies and programs aimed at achieving top-tier safety performance and ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and enforce critical safety behavior programs, policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive improved safety and health management in Haffner’s HOPs department.
- Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
- Develop and implement HOPS Safety/Compliance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Management of Jurisdictional Propane Systems Operation, Maintenance & Emergency (OM&E), and Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP).
- Working closely with other departments, supervisors, and employees to address HOPs safety concerns and implement safety initiatives.
- Conduct HOPs facility safety risk assessments and audits to identify high risk operations and determine needed courses of action.
- Partnering with the Training and Development team, design and implement compliance safety training for Propane (to include CTEP & OQ.
- Partnering with the Training and Development team, create and implement the management of internal safety and environmental training, including:
- Emergency/Spill Response training.
- Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Control (SPCC) training.
- Certified Employee Training Program (CTEP).
- HOP department Skill Assessments
- OSHA Training / HAZWOPER
- Develop and implement audits and inspections of Heating Oil and Propane Safety & Compliance programs to include inspections at all base yard locations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in health and safety or a related field or eight years’ experience in lieu of an undergraduate degree is acceptable.
- Minimum 5 years Environment Health and Safety experience.
- Heating operations management experience
- 30 hour OSHA general industry (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license.

Compensation:
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other job-related qualifications. For the purpose of this role, the minimum salary opportunity is:
PAY $90,000/ year.
Job Environment
While carrying out job responsibilities, the employee may encounter hazardous or caustic chemicals and varying weather conditions. Work can take place both indoors in an office setting and outdoors in extreme temperatures. The employee might also be exposed to moving mechanical parts, flammable materials, and occasional vibrations. Noise levels can sometimes be loud. This role involves working in both office and external environments, with site travel being necessary. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
