Production Manager
We are a busy family-owned excavation and paving company. We are looking to hire a reliable Production Manager to join the Hagar team. As the Production Manager, you must be reliable, responsible, committed to working safely and motivated to do your best with a positive attitude. This position will be expected to manage our aggregate crushing and screening operations team and must be safety focused. This position will also be our Quality Control lead; responsible for ensuring that all products meet the company's quality standards. This includes conducting inspections, testing, and analysis of products and materials.
Managing crushing and screening operations:
- Manage our aggregate crushing and screening operations team
- Travel to our other pit and quarry locations in the area as necessary
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the entire crushing operation lifecycle
- Collaborating with the team to set and achieve production goals
- Creating and implementing a preventative maintenance program
- Ensure daily operations are aligned with the material needs of projects as well as external sale needs
- Mechanically inclined with the ability to resolve mechanical issues as they arise
- A self-starter with a strong work ethic
- A solid communicator
- An effective time manager who is able to drive multiple projects forward at once
- Perform maintenance and repairs on productions equipment
- Oversight of direct reports
- Perform equipment changeovers between production runs
- Oversee the setup, troubleshooting, and making minor machine adjustments
- Monitor variables to maintain efficient operations and meet department quality, cost and production goals
- Maintain cleanliness of work area
Quality control:
- Work with field operations to understand current and future material needs so inventory levels can be properly managed
- Gradations at lab: get setup and begin testing our own material
- Use accepted methods to inspect, sample and test aggregates, asphalt, or other materials for the purpose of quality control
- Sample and test HMA mixtures for compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerances.
- Perform functions as Inspector/Technician for MDOT projects
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures
- Quality Control: responsible for ensuring that all products meet the company's quality standards. This includes conducting inspections, testing, and analysis of products and materials
- Identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner
- Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues, and will be responsible for maintaining accurate records
Safety focused:
- Strong understanding of construction safety
- Develop, implement, and manage safety programs
- Be a subject matter expert of safety in the workplace
- Conduct safety inspections and audits of construction sites
- Assist in providing leadership for the implementation, enforcement, and continuous improvement of health and safety policies and processes
- Provide safety training and education to employees
- Comply with all Hagar record retention guidelines
- Comply with all OSHA, MSHA, and other related regulatory requirements for documentation and reporting
- Assist HR in investigating workplace incidents and devising action plans to prevent a recurrence
- Review, analyze, and interpret directives published by higher authorities and research procedures to determine compatibility with new directives
Work Conditions / Physical Demands:
- Normally standing with freedom of movement on a regular basis
- Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
- Work will occur outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions such as rain, ice, snow and heat
- Will often be required to work long hours
- Regular physical activity requires walking, climbing, bending, standing, pushing, pulling and lifting
