Brief Position Description
The Maintenance Technician performs general preventative maintenance and corrective repair of the facility’s structure, equipment and grounds in a safe, proper and compliant manner.
Responsibilities
- Maintain corporate safety procedures at all times and comply with access control regulations
- Comply with OSHA regulations when using hazardous chemicals on company premises; comply with company safety regulations
- Perform general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and roofing tasks
- Build, repair, install, and maintain counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, shelving, office furniture, building framework and trim
- Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, drywall and wall coverings
- Maintains lighting systems throughout the various facilities; replacing light bulbs, ballasts and general electrical
- Assists Maintain Manager in coordinating repairs with subcontractors
- Maintains order and cleanliness of each job-site on an on-going basis, sweeping and cleaning, etc. as directed
- General outdoor cleaning of walkways, entrances, and dock areas
- Must maintain company assigned communication device while on duty and respond as appropriate
- Maintains security of all entrance/exit gates and locks
- Ensure all services provided to the facility are completed with the utmost degree of quality and efficiency
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Maintain Manager
- Understanding of architectural, electrical and mechanical systems
- Working knowledge of contracts and related documents
Job Specific Requirements
- Experience in the commercial maintenance industry in one or more areas such as general carpentry, landscaping, tiling, various flooring, painting, accessories, HVAC, plumbing &/or electrical
- Proficient in use of hand / power tools
- Ability to read / interpret instructions & construction documents
- Ability to learn and take direction
- Understanding of plumbing and electrical systems
- High school diploma or equivalent (requires strong mathematical skills and problem-solving skills)
General Requirements
- Reliable personal transportation and a motor vehicle driving record that is consistent with HCI’s and insurance carrier’s standards and policies
- Must be self-motivated, punctual, and professional in both presentation, appearance, and speech
- Provide solution-based responses to issues
- Fluent in the English language (both written and spoken)
- Able to lift 50-75 lbs. Ability to lift heavy objects as encountered in the work environment
- Ability to work outside year-round in all types of weather conditions
- Availability to work extended hours as required by weather conditions or urgent circumstances
- Ability to raise, lower and climb various types of ladders
- Hearing and visual capabilities to safely handle the hazards encountered in the work environment
- Ability to travel throughout all areas of project facilities during all phases of a project (may require work in confined spaces, standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time)
- Working knowledge of all crafts (ability to read and understand specifications for all trades)
- Must have general computer knowledge and be able to effectively utilize multiple communication devices (cell phones, tablets etc.)

Reports To:
- The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Senior Project Manager
Educational and Experience Considerations
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training.
- Forklift/Scissor Lift license (preferred)
