Brief Position Description:
Haggerty is seeking an experienced painter to paint the interior and exterior of structures,
buildings and other surfaces.
Responsibilities:
▪ Erect scaffolding, moveable and immovable staging and various rigging to gain access to
difficult areas
▪ Select and purchase paint from approved vendors
▪ Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection
▪ Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sand paper and removing old
paint
▪ Mix paint and other materials to prepare the correct color or texture
▪ Paint surfaces according to client and management specifications utilizing various
tools
▪ Accurately apply varnish and other finishes
▪ Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions
▪ Tape off areas as needed
▪ Clean walls to ensure proper adherence
▪ Fill all cracks, holes and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers using caulking
guns or putty knives
▪ Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps and electric switch covers prior to
painting
▪ Ensuring all construction work performed is of the highest quality
▪ Maintaining a clean and organized shop and jobsite area
▪ Adhering to HCI’s safety policies and procedures
▪ Maintaining organization and security of all HCI owned tools and materials
▪ Maintaining and providing required tool set
▪ Performing assigned tasks accurately and efficiently
▪ Working in a professional and courteous manner with all subcontractors and other tradesmen on
the job site
Reports To:
The individual this position directly reports to Assigned Superintendent
General Requirements:
▪ Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team
▪ Painters maybe asked to help out with other trades and tasks, need to be willing to
adapt
▪ 2-3 years’ experience as a painter
▪ Knowledge of painting material and how to accurately select, mix and apply them
▪ Basic knowledge of commercial and residential construction painting techniques
▪ Keen eye for aesthetic and visual precision
▪ Meticulous and diligent
▪ Steady hand to ensure precision
▪ Able to stand for long periods of time
▪ Detail oriented – quality and precision focused
▪ Ability to use cell phone, take pictures, send, receive & respond to emails, and manage a
calendar
▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to understand the same
▪ Excellent listening and understanding skills
▪ Must be proactive, well organized, and have a strong ability to prioritize
▪ Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills, both internally and
externally
▪ Must be self-motivated, punctual, and professional in both presentation, appearance, and
speech
▪ Provide solution based responses to issues
▪ Fluent in the English language
▪ Reliable personal transportation and a motor vehicle driving record that is consistent with
HCI’s and insurance carrier’s standards and policies
▪ Able to lift 50-75 lbs. Ability to lift heavy objects as encountered in the work
environment
▪ Ability to work outside year round in all types of weather conditions
▪ Availability to work extended hours as required by weather conditions or urgent
circumstances
▪ Ability to raise, lower and climb various types of ladders
▪ Hearing and visual capabilities to safely handle the hazards encountered in the work
environment
▪ Ability to travel throughout all areas of construction sites during all phases of a project (may
require standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time)
▪ Working knowledge of all crafts (ability to read and understand specifications for all
trades)
Educational and Experience Considerations:
▪ Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in construction industry as a painter (or similar)
role
