Responsible for supporting the business in the evaluation of our appliances and associated packaging performance during our distribution environment in our AP10 Packaging Lab. The person will operate test fixtures, simulators and heavy equipment to complete the required tests. The person should have solid mechanical aptitude and attention to detail along with demonstrated ability using Microsoft products to document and record results of tests and inspections. A successful candidate will be familiar with ISTA test procedures and failure modes for multiple appliances. The role will require frequent handling and unboxing of large appliances. Position Pack Lab Engineering Technician Location USA, Louisville, KY How You'll Create Possibilities Apply technical expertise of instrumentation and test software to setup instrumentation and fixturing to properly execute testing to provided standards. Equipment includes riding and walk-behind material handling equipment, as well as material handling simulators. Coordinate tasks with other technicians to make most efficient use of chambers and test fixtures. Work with Engineers to plan, execute, and evaluate the results of material handling tests. Train new technicians and engineers in proper testing selection and methods. Coordinate sample movement to and from the lab with Dart material handlers. Coordinate repairs and routine maintenance with Quant Other tasks, as assigned by lab management. What You'll Bring to Our Team Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical position. Understanding of test equipment and instrumentation. Able to troubleshoot test setup, confirm that required accuracy is met, and have knowledge of routine maintenance. Ability to work with minimum supervision to plan, schedule, and execute testing against customer requirements. Ability to train and develop newer technicians. Attention to detail and time management skills are required to multitask to meet the customer’s schedule. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products Demonstrated understanding of appliance products (operation and failure modes) Physical ability to move large appliances. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Fork truck certification. 2-year technical degree, military equivalent training, professional technical certification.
